UNTER SCHNEE, 2011

Happy Birthday, Ulrike Ottinger! We wish you all the best on your 70th birthday! Last fall, on the occasion of several exhibitions of her works, we showed Ottinger's film oeuvre and accompanied screenings with a series of events and talks. In May and June, more exhibitions of her work are taking place in Munich (Sammlung Goetz) and Berlin (Das verborgene Museum), and it is her birthday, so we would like to expand our program with a special double feature. On 25.6, we present the two-part radio play Unter Schnee (Under Snow, 2011), in which Ottinger has created a montage of everyday sounds, of festivals and rituals in snowy Echigo, Japan and a narrative from the Edo Period. The next day, we will show UNTER SCHNEE (D 2011, 26.6.), the film version of the same material, about Kabuki, poetry and reality. We are glad to welcome Ulrike Ottinger on both nights.
