Ken Jacobs

Ken Jacobs was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1933. In 1956 he shot his first short film and quickly went on to become one of the leading protagonists of avantgarde film (“Urban guerilla cinema”) alongside Jack Smith. In 1969, together with Larry Gottheim, he founded the film department at the State University of New York in Binghamton. His work, including the well-known “Nervous System Performances”, has been presented at numerous festivals and exhibitions.
