Su Friedrich

born in 1954 in New Haven, Connecticut.
After 1976 she has lived and worked in New York. She attended the University of Chicago in 1971-72 and Oberlin College from 1972-1975, from which she graduated with a B.A. in Art and Art History.
Friedrich began filmmaking in 1978 and her films have won many awards, including: for SWIM OR SINK the Best Experimental Film Award at the USA Short Film and Video Festivals 1991; for DAMNED IF YOU DON'T the Best Experimental Film Award at the Athen Film Festival in 1990 and the Best Experimental Narrative Award at the Atlanta Film Festival in 1988.
Her work has also been the subject of retrospectives at the Museum of Modern Art New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art New York, and the Anthology Film Archives New York.
