2006 – 1892 = 114 ans / jahre (2006 – 1892 = 114 years) is part of a comprehensive film project which emanates from an event dating back 114 years: In the course of an expedition led by the German officer Hans Ramsay into the so called ‘hinterland’ (outback) of Cameroon the chief of the Yambassa, Bisselé Akaba, was displaced and executed. He is the great grandfather of Moise Merlin Mabouna.

The video intends to be less of a comprehensive contribution to historical accounts than to question the context of forms of knowledge and images of memory in which representations become plausible and effective.
Here the return of the Ndjaman to Brandenburg promises a future, which will be post-colonial, because it transforms the voice of their history in a trans-continental manner and disposes between a construction of a ‘here’ and an ‘elsewhere’.
