Bagatelle is witty, ironic and makes some prophecies (maybe not as apparent for those, who did not know Marie Menken and Willard Maas personally). She herself has only this to say: “A more serious work than Arabesque for Kenneth Anger – Bagatelle tries to connect a lyrical statement with some observations in Versailles.“
