On the eve of the handover of the crown colony Hong Kong to China, I flew there for one more time because I thought that thereafter my home town would never again be the same place I used to know.
Shortly after my arrival I discover many things that I took for granted in the past but that now strike me as odd. I see the city in a very different light. My long stay in Germany has alienated me from my home town. My memories of Hong Kong have become vague so that I have to ask myself, whether I ever knew this city.
Instead of making a documentary about the Handover of Hong Kong as I had planned, I decided to keep a video diary about my subjective observations during my stay there. The handover remains in the background and on a parallel level, mainly through the images recorded from the TV news.
