arsenal experimental – A Platform for Experimental Film, Video and Installation Art

arsenal experimental extends the capacities of the Arsenal distribution, focusing on experimental film in Germany.

arsenal experimental is meant as a distribution initiative that moves along the borders between film and the other visual arts, promoting the work that one finds there through distribution, sales and placement both within Germany and abroad, presenting them at the Kino Arsenal and releasing both DVDs and publications in the edition arsenal experimental.

The idea of networking is a central concern of arsenal experimental. International cooperation with curators and with colleges and institutions that work in the area of experimental film forms the basis of the platform which can then be offered to the artists whose works are represented by arsenal experimental.

As a meeting point between filmmakers and curators, arsenal experimental will represent the works internationally and seek to expand the spectrum of the reception of these works by means of contextualization.

The current holdings of the already existing Arsenal distribution will be integrated into the distribution of arsenal experimental by planning and carrying out thematic series in the context of international currents, with the goal of establishing a film historical context for contemporary work and thereby discovering links and historical lines.
