Philippe and Marion, both 35 years old, are a couple living in Paris. Shortly before a planned trip to Venice, they decide not to go. But they tell their friends and acquaintances that they were there. A few weeks later, they receive photos that show them in Venice... Very gradually, they lose touch with reality and drift apart. Marion moves out with their children, while Philippe finds refuge with a young Jewish man. "I like to observe people. I am particularly interested in what makes people laugh, especially when the reason is not completely obvious: when contradictions, doubt, or insincerity makes them laugh. I am interested in the difference between language and body language. The way a person speaks, his gaze, and the way he holds his body say more about him than his words. That's why I studied linguistics and always wanted to make films. I avoid straightforward narratives. I prefer to leave the audience the freedom to make their own interpretation. I have always thought that truth has many sides and is also always a little mysterious. That is why I set up the story of my film like a big riddle. It is mystery that makes humanity such an astonishing phenomenon." Brice Cauvin
