"Spell Reel" awarded at DocLisboa

SPELL REEL by Filipa César has received two awards at this year’s DocLisboa: Besides a Special Mention of the international jury it was given the Award by the José Saramago Foundation for Best Film spoken mostly in Portuguese, Galician or Creole of Portuguese origin comprising Competitions and New Visions. At the start of the 1970s, a militant cinema movement recorded the battle for liberation in Guinea-Bissau and the country’s first years of independence. Filipa César’s experimental documentary reveals the traces left behind by this film practice today.
