To mark UNESCO World Day for Audiovisual Heritage on October 27, Mariann Lewinsky is presenting early films from 1907 to 1911 from the Deutsche Kinemathek's archive .
Her program looks back on a time when the cinema was still in the process of inventing itself, constantly showcasing the latest trends – the elementary beauty of color and movement, musical numbers, the spell of distant places, satirical attacks on the authorities, followed by elegant thrillers and atmospheric Westerns. Comics such as Rosalie and Léontine and child stars such as Bébé aka Fritzchen set the screen on fire. (October 27, on the piano: Eunice Martins)
