Cinema for children and youths

Four very different items make up the children and youth program in April. The two "Classics Not Just for Children" films are linked to this month's Magical History Tour: The doppelgänger motif is the point of departure in Charlie Chaplin's clairvoyant satire THE GREAT DICTATOR(USA 1940, 1. & 8.4.), whereas sinister shadows and mysterious creatures inhabit an eerie world in LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS (Brad Silberling, USA 2004, 15. & 22.4.) The maxim of our What is cinema? program (20.4.) for high school students is: "Listen up!". It is all about sound in the cinema – from the first sound attempts of early film to modern experimental sound design. A season to accompany a children's exhibition about heroes on the 4th floor of the cinema begins on 29 April. WE CAN BE HEROES!(Bäst i Sverige!, Ulf Malmros, Schweden 2003, 29.4.) is about Marcello und Fatima who both want something very different from their parents.
