The epic arc spanning eight decades and three generations (based on Mario Puzo's eponymous gangster novel) and the ensemble of outstanding actors make THE GODFATHER I-III one of the most legendary - unplanned - trilogies in film history.

THE GODFATHER: "I believe in America." The film's opening incantation disappears as soon as it is uttered. In post-war New York, Don Corleone (Marlon Brando), patriarch and godfather, is the central authority and power in the state - certainly in the sprawling environment of the parallel criminal society he has built. Taciturn, powerful, and nefarious, the mafioso controls gambling and the trade unions. When he refuses to get involved in drugs, bloody clashes over supremacy in the world of organized crime are triggered.
