Forum expanded, the Berlinale’s link to installation and performance art, increases its presence in the city for the 2009 edition. A total of thirteen galleries and exhibition venues will be hosting the upcoming program.
The growing interest of the gallery scene in Forum expanded, which was founded in 2006 as part of the Forum, is a vivid indication of the program's strong standing in the cultural landscape of Berlin. In close collaboration with galleries and museums, Forum expanded responds to various exhibition practices in the international art scene and opens itself to conceptional experiments at the intersection of film and visual arts.
The successful cooperation in previous years with Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum for Contemporary Art, the Wilde Gallery and the Canadian Embassy will be continued. New collaborations include presenting works at the galleries Antje Wachs, Thomas Schulte and Tanya Leighton, at gallery Exile, the DAAD gallery, BodhiBerlin and at the studio Halle A/14.
Aditionally and introducing the upcoming collaboration, BodhiBerlin will host "Eclectic Images", a film series and exhibition co-curated with Arsenal - Institute for Film and Video Art, from January 9 through February 3.
