Beatriz ist ein Porno-Star; sie hat soeben die Aufnahmen zu ihrem letzten Film abgeschlossen. Eva ist Redakteurin von ‘Mineo Night’, einer bekannten Fernseh-Talkshow. Die beiden Frauen kennen sich nicht und sind anscheinend ganz verschieden voneinander: Beatriz raucht, Eva nicht; Beatriz ist ruhig und selbstsicher, Eva ist nervös und hyperaktiv; Beatriz spricht ein seltsames Gemisch von Italienisch und Spanisch, während Eva sich wortreich und eloquent auszudrücken vermag. Eva und Beatriz begegnen sich am heißesten Tag des letzten Jahrhunderts: Eva hat die Aufgabe, Beatriz vom Drehort des Porno-Films abzuholen und in die Stadt zu bringen, wo sie am gleichen Abend in der Talkshow auftreten soll. Aber die Fahrt verläuft nicht wie geplant. Die drückende Hitze, die den ganzen Film hindurch anhält, Zwischenfälle und Begegnungen verhindern, daß die beiden Frauen das Fernsehstudio rechtzeitig erreichen. Schließlich landen sie am Meer, an einem Strand, wo es endlich regnet und es zu einer Begegnung kommt, die ihr Leben verändert. ‘Venti’ ist der Name der Zigarettenmarke, die Beatriz raucht. Und aus zwanzig Episoden besteht die Reise der beiden Frauen. Das Päckchen mit den Zigaretten ist das tragende Element der erzählerischen Struktur, denn die Handlung beginnt immer erst in dem Moment, wenn eine Zigarette herausgenommen wird, und dauert jeweils eine Zigarettenlänge.	Beatriz is a porn star who has just finished shooting her latest film. Eva works for ‘Mineo Night’, a popular television talk-show. The two women don’t know one another and are apparently very different: Beatriz smokes, Eva doesn’t; Beatriz is calm and self-assured, Eva is nervous and hyperactive; Beatriz speaks a strange mixture of Italian and Spanish, while Eva can express herself eloquently and has a rich vocabulary. Eva and Beatriz meet on the hottest day of the last century. Eva has the task of collecting Beatriz from the set of the porno movie and bringing her into the city, where she is to appear on the talk-show that very same evening. But the journey doesn’t go according to plan. The oppressive heat, which permeates the entire film, incidents and encounters all conspire to prevent the two women reaching the television studios on time. An enforced stopover enables them to get to know each other better. Until, that is, a night-time blaze encourages them to set off again. They travel to the seaside, to a beach where it finally rains and where they have an encounter that may change their lives. ‘Venti’ is the name of the cigarettes Beatriz smokes. The two women’s journey is divided into twenty episodes. A cigarette packet and the cigarettes it contains carry the story along. The camera only records the action from the moment a cigarette is taken out of the packet to the moment it is extinguished or thrown away.
