Ju An Qi bricht mit den Konventionen des chinesischen Films und wendet sich ohne Hemmungen mit einer simplen Frage direkt an die Arbeiter und Bewohner Beijings, auf der Straße, auf öffentlichen Plätzen, in Schulen, Restaurants, Schönheitssalons und öffentlichen Bädern. Diese Direktheit reflektiert Jus bewußten Bruch mit der Kultur und den Medien der chinesischen Gesellschaft.	Beijing, China, 1999: a city and a nation in flux, peeking out on the verge of the millennium and the preparations for the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic. Breaking with the conventions of Chinese film and media, Ju An Qi uninhibitedly and confronts directly Beijing’s workers and citizens on the street, in public squares, schools, restaurants, beauty parlors, and public bathrooms, with a simple question. The idea of being direct reflects Ju’s conscious break with Chinese culture and media, in a society where the influence of politics and history on personal psychology makes spontaneity virtually impossible.
