Maren-Kea Freese . . . und schön soll es sein.

She’s twenty-six years old and travels about Berlin with her plastic bags in tow. One of them contains the records she plays as a DJ to earn money from time to time. Most mornings she doesn’t even know where she’ll be spending the night. She lives only for the present, until, one day, she hears of her mother’s death. Her journey to the small town where she grew up takes her back to her own past, looking for clues about the mother she barely knew. In cinema and in real life, I love people who eschew conventional lives. I love people who rub you up the wrong way, who allow the cracks to show through, who are strong and yet vulnerable, people who’d rather fail than pull through by being careful. Maren-Kea Freese . . . and its got to be beautiful. Says Zoe.
