New digital restoration: The Party – Nature Morte (D 1991)
Cynthia Beatt’s debut centers on Queenie (Tilda Swinton), who, after years of intimacy, feels nothing but emptiness in her relationship with Burrsie (Lutz Weidlich). They decide: “It’s time for a party.” Among the illustrious guests at her Berlin loft are Simon Fisher-Turner, Irm Hermann, Martin Wuttke, Christian Petzold, Lilly Grote, Sarah Wiener, Vincenzo Bugno, and many others. A black-and-white still life with calm cinematography by Elfi Mikesch.
