How membership works at Arsenal - Institute for Film and Video Art e.V.

Association membership

As a member of the Arsenal - Institut für Film und Videokunst e.V. you will receive reduced admission prices. If you wish, we will send you our monthly program by mail.

Regular membership is valid for 6 months.
 In 2024, the conditions of the "Countdown" special membership apply.

Countdown special membership
As Arsenal is leaving the Filmhaus at Potsdamer Platz at the end of 2024 and moving to the silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin-Wedding, we are giving you a few extra months in our last year at the old location with the "Countdown" special membership. All membershiphs taken out after 1.1.2024 are valid until the last screening at Potsdamer Platz, which is expected to take place in mid-December 2024.

Ticket prices for members: € 6


Discounted multiple screening ticket for members (6 performances, non-transferable, valid for three months): €24

*Discounts are available for students, pupils, trainees, pensioners, holders of a Berechtigungsnachweis / Berlin Ticket-S and refugees.

The easiest way to get your membership is directly at our box office. It can be used immediately.

Arsenal Freundeskreis Premium Membership

annual fee 250 €
- all the benefits of Arsenal Freundeskreis membership listed above plus
- for private individuals: free entry to the "Magical History Tour" series and free entry with a guest to representative individual events
- for institutions: a contingent of free tickets for your staff

Arsenal Freundeskreis Filmmaker Membership

annual fee 150 €
- all the benefits of Arsenal Freundeskreis membership listed above plus
- free one-hour test screening and 2 test screenings at 50 % of the standard rental cost for Cinema 1 & 2 (maximum length two hours each)
- 5 hours free access to an editing table for viewing purposes
- reduced fee for annual Arsenal Summer School

Living Archive Membership

Fifty-five years since Arsenal was founded, our collection now comprises some 10,000 titles, including numerous unique items. Political cinema, experimental film, independent cinema: On the basis of our institution’s living history and its global networks, our archive reflects half a century of film art. As part of contemporary projects by artists, curators and academics, films that were long invisible are now being digitalized and if need be restored. They can now reach audiences not only in Berlin, but all over the world. Some of them are returning as digital copies to where they were once produced and lost.
By becoming a Supporting Member of Living Archive, you will be helping us to continue our archive work.

- participation in a curator guided tour through the archive

- free participation in the Arsenal Summer School
- free entry by invitation to premieres of all films digitized by the Arsenal (including premieres during the Berlinale)
