We are very happy to have the following films by indian master filmmaker Satyajit Ray now available as DCP with english subtitles: CHARULATA (The Lonely Wife), MAHANAGAR (The Big City), NAYAK (The Hero), KAPURUSH (The Coward), MAHAPURUSH (The Saint) und JAI BABA FELUNATH (The Elephant God). We do hold the screening rights for Germany, Austria and Swizerland.

Archival Assembly was initially established in 2021 as the final part of the project “Archive außer sich”. The biannual festival casts a transformative gaze on international film archives as a living space for designing the future of the cinema. The second edition of Archival Assembly, funded by the Kulturstiftung des Bundes, will take place at various venues in Berlin from June 8 to 15, 2023.

"In 2700 - the Year of the Toads - 'Ash' was a burned-out city. Too big for its souls, which huddled in dark cellar holes, it was an unruly wild animal, ready to piss death in the face at any time." These words open the collective work by Austrian avant-garde artists Ursula Pürrer, Dietmar Schipek and Ashley Hans Scheirl shot in 1991. The digital restored version is now available for loan in Europe (Austria excluded).

A film archive isn’t just a place for storing film prints, it’s a place for narratives and counter-narratives, a cultural memory. For some prints, the Arsenal archive became a veritable place of refuge, because the films were not allowed to be publicly screened in their countries of production, were banned, or put their directors in danger.
