BERLIN UNVERKÄUFLICH (Irena Vrkljan, West Germany 1967) is a walk through a Berlin that couldn’t be further from the tourist trail, full of traces of the city’s recent past, while BERLIN (Irena Vrkljan, West Germany 1969) remembers a city that built its future on ruins. Rosi S.M.’s MAMMA HEMMERS … KREUZBERG ADIÖ (West Germany 1981) shows anarchistic slogans and graffiti in Kreuzberg and STADTMUSEUM (Boris Dewjatkin, Germany 2024) is a tribute to Berlin, chaos, signs and the city as a palimpsest. In THE ART OF AUTHENTICITY (Carlo Oppermann, Germany 2022), a satirical publicity film for the Berlin Office of Urban Authenticity, a civil servant with a serious sense of self-importance gives the city of Berlin its grimy charm.
