The Wrong Movie

When her casually quirky feature film THE WRONG MOVIE premiered as part of the Berlinale Forum in 2024, Cytter established a position for herself in the film world that she had long achieved on the international art scene. Ute Thon describes the story of “unusual encounters with sex-addicted cleaners, lovesick crack addicts, and Instagram influencers with surveillance drones” as alternating “between conventional narration and playful deconstruction of common feature film genres from melodrama to film noir”; and for Trevis Jeppesen the work, with its “self-deprecating title and its critical incursion into present-day existential immanence and all its post-ideological squalor ... [was] one of the 2024 Berlinale's great unsung films.”
