The cooperation with the Gropius Bau that started as part of the Arsenal on Location project. The late shift, Gropius Bau’s interdisciplinary live program, is being curated by Collin Klugbauer in January, head of exhibition management at the Schwules Museum. The starting point of the question of regimes of looking in the exhibition Diane Arbus: Konstellationen, which can be seen until 18.1. at Gropius Bau: Klugbauer invited three performers to grapple with the visual worlds of the photographer, who radically questioned aesthetic conventions in her expressive black-and-white photographs. As part of the evening, Arsenal presents the film FREAK ORLANDO by Ulrike Ottinger (West Germany 1981): her “small theatre of the world” in five episodes tells of the life and death of the “freaks”, the abnormal and the outsiders, of misconceptions, incompetence, the hunger for power, fear, madness, cruelty and everyday life, whereby Ottinger draws a line between mythological prehistory all the way into the 20th century. Ulrike Ottinger will be attending the screening. (stss) (Stefanie Schulte Strathaus)
