NIGHTSHIFT, a “punk requiem to women nightworkers and hotel nightcrawlers” (Elena Gorfinkel), was conceived and filmed during night shifts at the Portobello Hotel, the workplace of director Robina Rose and co-writer Nicola Lane. “The structure of the nightshift, its sounds, tasks, and routines […]became the narrative structure of the film” (Lane), which features a number of icons from London's subculture.
