Alongside debates on community and cultural film work, the Weitwinkel – Kommunales Kino Singen and the Zebra-Kino in Konstanz are showing OB’S STÜRMT ODER SCHNEIT. Doris Dörrie's debut feature was a joint project with Wolfgang Berndt, as part of their studies at HFF München. It is a gentle portrait of the cinephile Maria Stadler, who was one of the first to receive a license from the US occupation forces at the end of 1945. When the film was made, Stadler's cinema in Bad Endorf, Bavaria was a one-woman show. Faced with declining audience numbers and high debts, Stadler did all the work herself, selling tickets, operating the projector, chopping wood to heat the large theater and even organizing concerts and puppet performances to supplement her income. Today, Maria Stadler is a legend and her cinema, now called "Maria's Cinema", is run by a collective.
