Cineteca Nacional de Chile: In focus: Chilean films in Arsenal's archive

The “Jornadas sobre cine: archivos recuperados” conference, organized by the Cineteca Nacional de Chile, the department “Cine y Realización Audiovisual” of the Universidad Diego Portales and the Goethe Institut, opens a space for encounters and reflections on contemporary practices of preservation, research and activation of audiovisual archives. Arsenal on Location provides the framework for a joint program that will present current digitization projects of Chilean films from Arsenal's archive. Relations with Chile have existed since the early 1970s, when film copies were handed over to Arsenal to protect them from censorship. Some rare copies are being digitized in Germany with the Federal Archive and the DEFA Foundation as well as in other countries with the Elías Querejeta Zine Escola (Spain), the Vulnerable Media Lab at Queen's University (Canada) and the Cineteca Universidad de Chile. The titles include AMUHUELAI-MI (María Luisa Mallet, 1971) and VOTO MÁS FUSIL (Helvio Soto, 1970). (mr) (11.-13.8.)
