e-flux Screening Room, New York:
Forum Expanded: 19 going on 20 (Redux)

Forum Expanded celebrated its 20th anniversary in February. Founded in 2006, the Berlinale section has expanded the festival both in terms of form and theme year after year, with experimental cinema, expanded cinema, performances, installations, concerts, readings, and discussions. To mark this milestone, films and works from the first 19 years of the program were screened again. A selection of the short films shown is now being presented at the e-flux Screening Room, a cinema for experimental film and moving image works by artists in Brooklyn, New York. The 19 going on 20 (Redux) program brings together five short films that were made between 2016 and 2024 by Vika Kirchenbauer, Zuza Banasińska, Shelly Silver, Eduardo Williams/Mariano Blatt, and Tomonari Nishikawa. The works offer an insight into the broad aesthetic and thematic range of Forum Expanded: from structuralist landscape observations to feminist interventions, poetry, and performance to autofictional adaptations of personal and found archival material.
