Seven years ago, one of our joint projects with silent green Film Feld Forschung entailed putting two 16mm short films that New York filmmaker Shelley Silver shot specificaly for this purpose in a terrarium in the Restaurant MARS. The idea was to investigate how warmth and air humidity slowly destroy the film material – and perhaps produce something new in the process. The result was – compared with prints of the same films that were stored correctly – shown in December at the closing of Arsenal on Location on the big screen. In January, the films can be seen again on a monitor in our window display at Gerichtstraße 35: In TURN (Germany 2018, 4 Min.), 23 friends and passersby show their faces on the streets of Berlin. THIS FILM (Germany 2018, 4 Min.) is a depiction of the world in fragments, jumps and frames. By day and by night. For flaneurs, neighbours and friends of Arsenal. (Angelika Ramlow) (10.– 20.1.)
