Thai Film Archive, Bangkok

In 2024, the members of the FIAF (International Federation of Film Archives) were lucky enough to be invited to the annual congress in Bangkok at the Thai Film Archive, one of the most beautiful cinemas in the world. Five films reflecting the diversity of Arsenal's restoration projects will now be presented there in August. “The selection includes African, German, Indian and American titles, with themes ranging from politics, history, cinephilia, gender diversity to a work of abstract contemplation. Rather than following a specific thematic approach, we want to honor the rediscovery of these films with their different moods, locations and aesthetic approaches through the practice of film restoration, a concern shared by the Thai Film Archive.” (Putthapong Cheamrattonyu) The films to be screened are OB'S STÜRMT ODER SCHNEIT (Wolfgang Berndt, Doris Dörrie, FRG 1977), BADNAM BASTI (Prem Kapoor, India 1971), YOU HIDE ME (Nii Kwate Owoo, Ghana 1970), DEUTSCHLAND, ERWACHE! (Erwin Leiser, FRG 1968) and 11x14 (James Benning, 1977). (stss) (2. & 3.8.)
