After several Fun House strains, Buster Keaton unexpectedly finds himself "three and a half miles higher than a kite" in the ropes of a captive balloon. He lands in the wilderness, fights against animals, nature and the current of a river. But then he meets his new girlfriend: Instead of plunging down a waterfall, they float in their canoe straight to the sky.
Our 1920s expert Vaginal Davis presents THE BALLOONATIC (1923) and other Buster Keaton flights to the sky: THE SCARECROW about two men sharing a fully mechanical cottage, and the house building classic ONE WEEK (both 1920).
On the piano: Eunice Martins. As usual, Miss Davis invites to a round of drinks in the Rote Foyer afterwards. (Dec. 13)
