Mabel Normand was the "Queen of Comedy" at Keystone Studios. Her acting was completely based on her comic mime technique. She played the lead alongside Charlie Chaplin in a series of films that she sometimes directed herself. Her admirer Mack Sennett built her a studio where she could shoot her films.
