Caligari Prize for "The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye"
This year's Caligari Prize goes to Marie Losier's The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, which also won the Teddy award for best documentary.
FIPRESCI Prize for "Heaven's Story"
The prize of the Internatioanl Federation of Film Critics for a film in the Forum's programme goes to Heaven's Story by Zeze Takahisa.
Jonas Mekas in Conversation
Jonas Mekas, who is presenting his new film Sleepless Nights Stories at the Forum, and P. Adams Sitney will be discussing the beginnings and practice of the New York Anthology Film Archives which they both co-founded on 19.2.
Forum Expanded: "Screen off"
Forum Expanded is taking to the radio waves for the very first time. The radio station Deutschlandradio Kultur will be presenting sound works from Keren Cytter, Dani Gal, Achim Lengerer, Natascha Sadr Haghighian and Tony Conrad as part of the "Klangkunst" series. The works can also be heard beforehand at the Arsenal cinema on 16.2.
Special Screening: "Dreileben"
With Dreileben, the Forum will be showing a unique cinematic experiment: a project conceived for televlsion that is comprised of three 90 minute films by Christian Petzold, Dominik Graf and Christian Hochhäusler. The premiere wil be taking place at the Delphi cinema on 16.2, with a repeat screening at the International cinema on the final day of the festival.
The Forum at the Talent Campus
Once again, several Forum directors will be involved in this year's Talent Campus: Thunska Pansittivorakul will be taking part in "As Queer as it gets" disussion on 16.2, while Przemysław Wojcieszek will be participating in the "Critics meet Filmmakers" event on 17.2
Genesis Breyer P-Orridge at Forum Expanded and the Forum
Music legend Genesis Breyer P-Orridge, protagonist of Marie Losier's documentary The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye, will be presenting his own work Ghosts#9 on 14.2 and 15.2 which draws on material by William S. Burroughs. P-Orridge will also be performing with Tony Conrad at HAU 2 on 19.2.
Films and Video Letters from Egypt
In light of current events, a monitor has been set up in the Filmhaus foyer showing video letters from Egypt in order to show the festival guests how filmmakers are getting involved in the protests. A film programme has been organised for Friday, February 18th, which will be showing film and trailers by independent filmmakers from Egypt.
Jafar Panahi's "Crimson Gold" showing at the Forum
As an act of solidarity, the Berlinale will be showing a range of films by acclaimed Iranian director Jafar Panahi, who was invited to serve on this year's jury but has been prevented from attending the festival by the Iranian authorities. The Forum will be showing Crimson Gold on Saturday.
Forum Expanded: Exhibition Openings
The 6th edition of Forum Expanded begins on 9.2. with the Parallel Worlds group exhibition at the Salon Populaire. Annika Larsson's video installation Blind at P88 opens on 10.2., with Guy Maddin's Hauntings and the bar and installations in the Filmhaus to follow on 11.2.
