Arsenal is offering a workshop in 16mm shooting, processing, archiving, print inspection and cleaning, digitization and projection in cinema from September 27th to October 1st. Arsenal members and partners will accompany the participants through the entire process: from producing a 16mm film, to digitizing it, then on to projecting it in the cinema, with added insights into archiving and caring for prints.

Liat Benin-Azili and her husband are forcibly abducted from their kibbutz by members of Hamas on 7 October 2023. Shortly afterwards Brandon Kramer starts filming with Liat's family. He’s there with them as the parents Yehuda and Chaya try to deal with their fear – or to sway the fate of their daughter and her husband in dialogue with the authorities. - HOLDING LIAT had its world premiere at the Berlinale Forum and was awarded the Berlinale Documentary Film Prize as well as the Berlinale Ecumenical Jury Prize. The film will be available with German subtitles from the beginning of October.

Slowly, 12-year-old Anna and her deaf mum are starting to feel a bit cramped in their flat. It’s not just the lack of privacy that’s causing friction – Anna has just started secondary school and quickly realises what’s important now: brand-name clothes and a sense of belonging. In her debut, director and author Marie Luise Lehner stages a confrontation with classist structures, which Anna tackles with a mixture of shame and grit.

In his four-hour institutional observation, Philipp Döring explores these questions by following everyday routines at the palliative care unit at the Franziskus Hospital in Berlin. The film will be available for rental starting November 17, before which it is reserved for festival screening.

Art and academic mediator and educator Stefan Aue takes over the position of Commercial Director of Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art from August 1^st, 2025 and will now head the Board of Directors together with Artistic Director Stefanie Schulte Strathaus. He replaces lawyer and art historian Anna Mallmann, who is leaving Arsenal after a period of three-and-a-half years.

The 16th Arsenal Summer School on the topic "On Location: Cinema in the neighborhood" will take place from August 20 to 22, 2025 at silent green.

Arsenal – Institute for Film and Video Art is now a member of FIAF (Fédération Internationale des Archives du Film / International Federation of Film Archives). At its general assembly in Montreal on May 1 and 2, it was decided to covert Arsenal’s associate membership, which had been in place since 2019, into a full membership.
