With the opening of the internal German border in 1989, the end of the division of Berlin’s public transport system also began. The documentary BERLIN – BAHNHOF FRIEDRICHSTRASSE 1990 (Lilly Grote, Konstanze Binder, Julia Kunert, Ulrike Herdin, West Germany 1990) is a document from the period of this process. The film follows how the border offices in stations are dismounted. The footage of travelers, railway staff and border officials show the upheaval that followed the fall of the wall on an individual scale and the problems of getting one’s bearing in a city that is suddenly growing back together again.
