Filmspotting: Exploring the Deutsche Kinemathek's Film Archive

With a close eye on historical reality, NOVEMBERMOND (Alexandra von Grote, West Germany/France 1984) tells the love story between German Jew November and the French Férial in 30s and 40s Paris. During the German occupation, November must flee from hiding place to hiding place, while Férial appears to get involved with the collaborators in order to protect her lover. In this way, the two women are able to survive together in the occupied city until the long awaited day of liberation, before Férial is attacked by an angry mob as a "Nazi whore". The cinematic oeuvre of Alexandra von Grote was added to the Deutsche Kinemathek’s collection this year. (ah) (23.11., with guest Alexandra von Grote)
