Inspired by over 100 letters written by Vincent Van Gogh to his brother Theo between 1878 and 1995, VINCENT VAN GOGH – DER WEG NACH COURRIÈRES (Christoph Hübner, Gabriele Voss, FRG 1989) explores the early stations of the painter’s life. Poverty and existential malaise, which he faced over and over again, are reflected by the motifs of his sketches as well as in the moor and field landscapes and the homes of miners and weavers. A dialogue between the past and the present emerges from the observations of Christoph Hübner and Gabriele Voss. VINCENT VAN GOGH – DER WEG NACH COURRIÈRES was recently digitized in 2K by the filmmakers and producers. It will now be distributed by the Deutsche Kinemathek alongside other works by the duo.
