The experience of getting to know the families in DYING and the lengthy work on the film left a lasting impression on Roemer. PILGRIM, FAREWELL transposes the theme of dying to a fictional setting and focuses on a woman who wants to be reconciled with her family before she dies. “Staged minimally, in one setting with a small cast, Pilgrim, Farewell could be called a four-hander or chamber piece, but more elegantly described as a small symphony. It too remains virtually unseeable.” (Jake Perlin) (hb)
