FORAGERS depicts the conflicts between Israeli conservation authorities and Palestinians who collect edible wild plants.  Filmed in the Golan Heights, the Galilee and Jerusalem, the film uses documentary, fictional and archival footage to illustrate the impact of Israeli conservation laws on the daily lives of Palestinians. The restrictions prohibit the collection of 'Akkoub (artichoke-like plants) and Za'atar (thyme), which play a significant role in Palestinian culture and cuisine. With irony and a meditative pace, Jumana Manna shows how the laws serve as an ecological veil designed to further alienate Palestinians from their land.
