Big Cinema, Small Cinema #62: Films from Light Cone in Paris

Filmstill from ANNABELLE DANCES AND DANCES

Sun 03.09.
16:00

We have selected six short films from different countries and eras – all of them from the catalogue of Light Cone, a distributor for experimental films and videos based in Paris. We start with ANNABELLE DANCES AND DANCES, a hand-colored dance featuring one of the first stars in film history. It is followed by TRIAL BALLOONS, a short film about fantastic metamorphosis by Robert Breer, and RIVER RITES, filmed by Ben Russell at a river in Surinam. The fourth film, MEND by Vincent Grenier, gazes out of the window and creates various mysteries along the way. Film number five, FORYANNFROMROSE, was shot by Rose Lowder and is a gift to her filmmaker friend and Light Cone founder Yann Beauvais. The sixth and last film was made in Mexico: in TIGRE DEL CARBON, we see rapid, colorful images of an imaginary place. (ua)
