Ulrike Ottinger's Berlin trilogy is a journey through different cultures and worlds, across dusty moonscapes and through the Berlin underground.

BILDNIS EINER TRINKERIN: Following an urgent impulse to forget the past, "She" (Tabea Blumenschein) - a mixture of Medea, Madonna, Beatrice, Iphigenia and Aspasia - buys a one-way ticket to Berlin to drink herself to death on a grotesque ramble through the pubs, hotels, casinos and bars of the city's Western part. Alienated and aloof, she immerses herself in the stylized city of the late 1970s, meeting protagonists of the insular underground on her nocturnal wanderings: drinkers, rock singers (spectacular: Nina Hagen), writers, artists and cab drivers. A melodrama.
