  • Introduction: Robert Stock

With six years having passed, this lyrical political essay film already finds a degree of distance in critically reflecting on the post-revolutionary events stretching up until 25.11.1975. The artistic montage of archival material, a subjective voiceover and lots of music, sometimes melancholy, sometimes satirical, depicts the transformation process that led to democracy as complex and rich in conflict: provisional governments, clashes in terms of which direction should be taken in the MFA armed forces organization and among the left, the ongoing exploitation of (land) workers, the end of colonial rule in Africa, the problems linked to people returning from the former colonies and their respective independence all find mention. A farewell to the Carnation Revolution that is marked by disappointed hopes. (bik)
