“What are you saying?“ – “Go on strike!” Empowerment speaks from this oral history document in which the most disparate of different women are all given a voice. Whether in individual interviews or group meetings of a women’s rights group, the focus in on experiences of discrimination, racism and violence, but also on the dawning of political awareness, activism and protest. A film of solidarity, a call to act together, such as in making THE WOMAN’S FILM, which was made in close collaboration with the Newsreel staff and the women being portrayed. (mg)
