For her filmRIVER DREAMS, Kristina Mikhailova asked girls and women to imagine themselves as a river. On the banks of the Aksay river in Kazakhstan, they talk about toxic masculinity, but also about dreams, desires and utopias. The interviews take place before a gender-conservative backdrop that is often hard to imagine. With radical tenderness, scenes of the political are made manifest via feminist demos and the art of active listening, all under the banner of sisterhood and solidarity.
