To coincide with the publication of the book Labour Power Plant, which is based on Robert Schlicht and Romana Schmalisch’s film of the same name (distributed by Arsenal), this film program presents documentary and fictional stories created in collaboration between filmmakers and workers. The films by the Medvedkin Group NOUVELLE SOCIÉTÉ NO. 5 (France 1970) and LES TROIS QUARTS DE LA VIE (France 1970) as well as Riki Kalbe’s IM PRINZIP HABEN WIR NICHTS GEGEN MÄDCHEN (West Germany 1976) tell stories of everyday working life and labor struggles; Cristina Perincioli developed and directed her film FÜR FRAUEN – 1. KAPITEL (BRD 1971) in collaboration with the employees of a West Berlin supermarket. In LES TROIS QUARTS DE LA VIE, young workers satirically reenact scenes from their hiring process. The program will be followed by a brief book presentation. (Robert Schlicht und Romana Schmalisch)
