In the first year of the pandemic and the 13th since the financial crisis, three filmmakers set out to talk to young people all over Italy about their future. Boys who help out in their parents' workshops and girls training to be beauticians have their say. They describe what students formulate more eloquently, but in no less depressing a way: namely, the difficulty of even imagining a future in Italy. Marcello, Munzi and Rohrwacher have described their collective film as an archive for future generations. They feed their own stories into the archive, as witnesses of the violence against G8 demonstrators in Genoa in 2001. (hp)
