Widowed writer Elene (played by director Nana Djordjadse, her red hair glowing) is about to turn 80. Her family have other things on their plate than her upcoming birthday. The mother of her son-in-law is about to move in with them, the woman who once tried to hinder Elene’s writing career in her role as a Soviet functionary. At the same time, Archil, the former love of her youth, makes contact again. In her spacious flat, which is filled with the traces of her life and which she can hardly leave because of her current state of health, she gives herself over to memories, contemplating both her own past as well as that of her country. Together with Elene, the camera wanders through her apartment and courtyard, where both she and us get involved in the small everyday dramas of her neighbors.
