Film Restored 2022

Behind the scenes of the film LITTLE DIETER NEEDS TO FLY: Werner Herzog is taking a photo of Dieter Denger who is pointing at a photograph pinned to a wooden wall.

Entitled “For Real?!”, the seventh edition of the Film Restored film heritage festival is dedicated to the many levels of documentary in film history. Authenticity and the claim to truth, ideology and pedagogy are recurring themes in the examination of the documentary form. Going beyond “informational content”, artistic documentaries also explore the possibilities of visual design. The festival presents newly restored films, which highlight the aesthetic and political complexity of the genre. The film program will be complemented by lectures, workshops and podium debates.

A selection of the films, talks, introductions and additional bonus features will be available online at www.film-restored.de.
