For several weeks, dffb student Wolfram Kohler accompanied the crew of a fish trawler on their journey from Bremerhaven towards Greenland. Before studying at the dffb, Kohler had himself worked on a trawler. He documents the trip from Bremerhaven to Greenland and back in his visually stunning graduation film AUF URANUS UNTER GRÖNLAND (West Germany 1982). Kohler shows the work of the sailors on the ship. A small number of titles detailing the background to their work are sufficient in order to turn the film into a nuanced reflection about working conditions at sea. A documentary that need not fear comparisons with classics such as John Grierson's "Granton Trawler" (1934) (ft). An event by CineGraph Babelsberg in collaboration with the Bundesarchiv-Filmarchiv and the Deutsche Kinemathek. (10.7.)
