The young Polish director, producer and screenplay writer Łukasz Grzegorzek presents his concise and sensitive road movie Córka trenera and Wojciech Has’ early classic, Pożegnania, an evocative literary adaptation.
CÓRKA TRENERA (A Coach’s Daughter, Łukasz Grzegorzek, Poland 2018, 24.9., guest: Łukasz Grzegorzek) Wiktoria’s father, a tennis player who was forced to end his career prematurely, wants her to follow in his footsteps and become Poland’s best player. He coaches her and the two go from one tournament to the next. The father-daughter team seems inseparable until Igor, another young tennis player, turns up.
POŻEGNANIA (Farewells, Wojciech Jerzy Has, Poland 1958, 25.9., Introduction: Łukasz Grzegorzek) Pawel and Lidka meet towards the end of the war in 1945, six years after an affair. Their old feelings for each other flare up uncontrollably. (mg) In cooperation with the Polish Institute in Berlin.
