Under the title Unauthorised Versions, the programme of the 21. Forum Expanded brings together 33 films, installations and performances from 31 countries. Many of the selected works are concerned with history and historiography, in particular with the question which perspectives and voices are often left out of official accounts and narratives. Which protagonists of history do not become visible, do not experience justice? And how can the established gaze on historic events and the repercussions they entail be expanded or counteracted?
These other, unofficial narratives and perspectives which the films and installations present, often revolve around violence – physical but also structural – enacted or tolerated by states. But they also show how solidarity can take effect across geographical and social boundaries.
