arsenal 3 in January

The program of our virtual cinema arsenal 3 makes direct reference to the activities carried out by our institution: the program of the Arsenal 1 & 2 cinemas , the titles that form part of our arsenal distribution range, or our Living Archive archival practice, which is rooted in both participation and production. In January we will show two programs: the films by Philip Scheffner and program dealing with the the National Film Institute of Guinea-Bissau (INCA – Instituto Nacional de Cinema e Audiovisual).

Berlinale 2021 Will Be a Festival in Two Stages

Industry Online Offer in March / Public Event in June

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the 71st Berlin International Film Festival has developed a new festival format for 2021 and is pleased to be able to hold the festival for the industry and the public. The industry platforms European Film Market, Berlinale Co-Production Market, Berlinale Talents and the World Cinema Fund will kick off the 71st Berlinale in March with an online offer. In June, there will be a summer event with numerous film screenings for the public audiences – in cinemas as well as open air. The division allows to maintain the two supporting pillars: film market and festival.

Radical Cinema, Then and Now

Online Panel Discussion

As part of the film series Comes the Revolution: The Berlinale Forum at 50 that is showing from December 14 to 20, the German Film Office presents a panel discussion on radical cinema in the 1970s, its legacy, and the continued importance of political filmmaking today. With Josh Siegel, curator of the film series, Berlinale Forum section head Cristina Nord, filmmakers Nuotama Bodomo and Rosa von Praunheim, and festival director Annouchka de Andrade. Moderated by film scholar Yasmina Price.

Berlinale Spotlight: 50 Years of the Forum in New York

As part of the Berlinale Spotlight series, the Arsenal iis presenting a selection taken from this year’s Berlinale Forum anniversary programme along with the German Film Office, an initiative of German Films and the Goethe-Institut New York. Together with film curators of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Berlinale Forum has put together six programmes entitled "Comes the Revolution: The Berlinale Forum at 50", which can be seen online on the website of the Goethe-Institut from December 14 to 20.
